The Canon PowerShot S5 IS is loaded with many of Canon’s latest advanced technologies including a ultra-powerful 12x optical zoom and the DIGIC III Image Processor. The Canon Powershot G9 features 12.1 megapixels of resolution, a 6x optical zoom with Optical Image Stabilizer, and RAW mode. Popphoto.com have posted their Canon PowerShot G9 Review and say they really liked what they saw-

Its free and once you are registered you can post images whenever you like on the site. They do the accounting and send checks-monthl,quarterly, semi-annually and they take a cut for all the marketing and web design they do. Plus when you sign up they will give you very clear guidelines for what kind of iamges sell and all the legal stuff -what model releases are needed etc.

This is a really nice compact camera from Canon. The picture quality is excellent. I have tried some night/day shots and the pictures are great. The zoom is the pretty much non existant at 3x however that depends on what you use the camera for. The build quality is excellent and I really love the 3″ display. I find the ipod like controls very convenient too though it takes some practice to get used to it. The camera is very compact but I never had problems to get a good grip and a steady hand. The images have excellent true color and are indeed sharp. I would definetely recommend an accessory kit for this camera which includes a nice small leather case and an extra original Canon battery and its available on Amazon. The accessory kit turns out to be cheaper than buying the individual components and its contains original Canon parts especially the extra battery. Also get a SD card with large enough memory. What comes with the camera (32MB) is really a waste. Still don’t understand why these camera manufactures throw in such a small memory card. But overall a great easy to use and a smart looking camera that produces wonderful results.

The A620 performs very well for a lower priced camera. It starts up in just 1.2 seconds, it focuses quickly, and shutter lag was not a problem. Shot-to-shot and playback speeds were also very good. In low light situations the camera focused accurately thanks to its AF-assist lamp. The PowerShot A620 shines in other areas as well. Its movie and continuous shooting modes are very good, assuming that you’re using a high speed SD card. With that you can record up to 1GB of continuous VGA video with sound, or keep taking photos at 1.9 frames/second until the memory card is full. If you use high power NiMH batteries the A620 beats all of the competition in terms of battery life — too bad Canon doesn’t include any with the camera!

Photo quality was excellent on the A620. Images were well-exposed with accurate colors, low noise levels, and minimal purple fringing. My only complaints in this area are with regard to the high redeye levels I observed, and the ISO 400 setting that isn’t terribly useful (it’s just too noisy).

I’ve pretty much slipped all of my complaints into the preceding paragraphs, which is great news for the A620. This is one of the best cameras in its class, offering something for just about everyone, from beginner to enthusiast. If you want a midsized camera that won’t require a second mortgage, the PowerShot A620 is definitely worth a look.

We bought this camera a few weeks ago as our third Canon Elph (most recent was a S400) and we’re quite impressed. In looking for a new camera here was our criteria:

1. Be simple to use. I’ve owned too many devices that are just too much work to use and I want to enjoy using my camera.
2. Take great indoor pictures. At least half the time we use our camera is at parties so no washed out (too much flash) pictures for us.
3. Use standard memory. We like to be able to share memory cards with our friends so today that means you need SD memory (no Sony MemorySticks).
4. Take pictures quickly. I hate waiting for cameras to turn on and focus–do it fast or forget about it.
5. Be portable. For me that means it must fit in my wife’s purse or it’s not going to go very many places.

The Canon SD700 in my opinion fits all the above better than any other camera on the market. As an avid Canon camera owner I know that they make some of the most easy to use cameras on the market and this upgraded camera would come with some of the same familiar controls from our loved S400. Notabley the Image Stablization (same technology available for years in camcorders) has made it into this model–which is great considering its often hard to hold such a small camera steady. The technology allows us to take pictures at parties indoors often without using the flash letting the natural light into the picture. The camera while slightly thicker than the SD450 is still small enough for a purse or jeans plus you get the 4X zoom and IS.

A few unexpected bonuses of the SD700:
* Records videos at 640×480 (30fps).
* Battery life lasts all weekend long.
* Special modes for taking pictures of Fireworks, the Beach, and Cloudy days.
* A beautiful fade effect between pictures while in slideshow mode.
* Fast power on, first picture, and quick scrolling thru slideshow pics.

You won’t be disappointed by the SD700. For a deal look for the Japanese (IXY 800) or the European (IXUS 800) models. I bought the IXY 800 as it is the identical camera to the US version (runs in English + English manual).
